Working under the guidance of the Bridge Foreman or General Manager, you'll perform hands-on tasks that ensure the integrity and performance of these essential assets. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, values teamwork, and takes pride in building and maintaining infrastructure that matters.Please watch our career video for more information https://www.gwrr.com/careers/Responsibilities:Perform daily activities of a bridge crew including bridge maintenance and repairsUnload and/or assist in unloading and distributing materials (rail, ties, spikes, etc.)Correct deviations in bridge surface, alignment, and gageInstall and repair wood trestles and wood structuresOperate tools such as rail saw, track wrench, spike maul, tie adz, and claw bar as neededPerform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Full-time (40 plus hours weekly) - work schedule is typically 8 days on /6 days offVarying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call as neededOutdoor work in all weather conditionsWalking on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contactWorking at elevated heights of 12 feet or greater while adhering to fall protection safety guidelinesFrequent lifting of equipment and tools that could be up to 50 poundsSkills and Experience:At least 2 years of work experiencePrevious experience with heavy hand tools and outdoor work is a plusKnowledge of roadway-worker protection regulationsPast experience working with fall protection; familiarity with FRA fall-protection regulations is a plusAble to work in a team environment that is safety sensitiveAble to read and interpret documents including safety rules, manuals, and regulationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office, applications, reporting, etc.)Possess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environmentRequired Education and Credentials:High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceValid driver's licenseCommercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus or able to obtain one if requiredAt least 18 years of ageEmployment Requirements:Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical reviewSubject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screeningBackground screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving historyRelocation:Candidates should live within 500 miles of assigned location.
