About the Opportunity:
The Staff Database Engineer (PostgreSQL) will play a key role in maintaining and scaling the organization''s core database infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring database performance, reliability, and scalability to support rapid platform growth. The role involves managing database administration, monitoring, automation, and collaborating with teams to optimize schema and query performance. The position contributes directly to the organization''s mission by enabling robust, high-quality infrastructure for healthcare delivery.3.
Responsibilities:
- Administer database infrastructure across production, QA, and development environments
- Monitor database performance and maintain automation scripts
- Manage setup, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Aurora databases
- Design and execute zero or minimal downtime upgrades and disaster recovery
- Implement best practices for partitioning, archiving, and accessing archived data
- Measure and optimize system performance and conduct capacity planning
- Implement security instrumentation
- Collaborate with feature teams to improve schema and queries
- Observe application behavior to prioritize query optimizations4.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in Amazon AWS RDS Aurora, PostgreSQL replication, partitioning, clustering, and high availability
- Experience ensuring database reliability, performance, and scalability in mission-critical environments
- Strong foundation in designing, scaling, and optimizing PostgreSQL deployments
- Ability to prioritize platform needs balancing short-term and long-term goals
- Collaborative leadership and strong communication skills
- High execution focus with problem-solving and initiative-taking abilities
- Proficiency with tools such as Terraform, PG Bouncer, scripting, and PostgreSQL monitoring systems
- Experience building and maintaining infrastructure for critical applicationsU.S. work authorization required5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- Base salary range is $205,000 - $235,000 plus equity, annual bonus, and benefits
