They rely on us to help them understand risk, prioritize what matters, and determine clear next steps.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a business-minded contract attorney to support a growing, modern law firm focused on clear, actionable legal guidance. This is a non-litigation role centered on:Contract drafting and negotiation Ongoing client advisory (fractional GC support) Early-stage client engagement and issue spotting  You will work directly with founders and business owners, balancing legal accuracy with practical, business-oriented solutions. This role is ideal for an attorney who values clarity, efficiency, and real-world impact. CORE RESPONSIBILITIESContract Drafting & Review (Primary Function)Draft and revise commercial agreements (NDAs, vendor/customer agreements, SaaS and services agreements, amendments).Review and redline third-party contracts. Identify legal and business risks. Provide clear, practical guidance on negotiation and next steps. Fractional General Counsel SupportProvide ongoing, non-litigation legal guidance Support clients with risk prioritization, contract strategy, and deal considerations Translate legal complexity into clear, actionable recommendations Participate in client calls as needed New Business & Client SupportSupport discovery calls and early-stage client conversations Issue-spot based on limited information Help define scope, service structure, and engagement approach Contribute to initial legal assessments and proposals Support marketing and business development efforts through occasional drafting of client-facing content (blogs, alerts, or white papers)Systems, Templates & QualityDevelop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and risk frameworks. Support standardization of deliverables and client communications. Follow internal systems for file management. Contribute to process and workflow improvements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSActive license to practice law in Arizona (in good standing). Additional state licensure is a plus. 3–8+ years of experience in business law or commercial contracts.Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and client advisory. KEY COMPETENCIES Business Mindset: Provides practical advice aligned with how businesses operate. Systems Thinking: Comfortable working within and improving structured processes.Professional Judgment: Demonstrates sound decision-making, risk awareness, and appropriate escalation. ENGAGEMENT STRUCTUREIndependent contractor (1099) Compensation: Flat monthly fee (time tracking required) Work is expected to be completed efficiently, with reasonable compensation tied to the time required for quality delivery. Flexible workload based on client and project volume. No exclusivity requirement unless otherwise agreed.
