Etz Hayim owns and operates the brands Cycling Frog and Lazarus Naturals, as well as a sprawling operation that spans from farming over 300 acres of hemp, extraction, chemical processing, packaging and warehousing to support both brands and private label customers.Lazarus Naturals was founded in 2016 to provide safe and accessible CBD products for everyone who would benefit from them, regardless of their financial situation and ability to pay, which is why we provide a 60% Assistance Program to veterans and people with disabilities or low-incomes. We are on a mission to make THC convenient, affordable, and fun by making a sessionable THC beverage the same price as a beer or soda. We want to change the way THC is consumed and viewed by our society by focusing on lower potency, ready to drink beverages that can easily fit into anyone’s lifestyle. Under the Federal Farm Bill it is legal to sell these low potency THC products across all 50 states via the internet, and anywhere you can grab a beer.This role will be based in Portland, OR.Reports To: Director of Engineering & QualitySummary: The Senior Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in the company’s mission, responsible for assisting with the implementation and management of all food safety, quality assurance and testing initiatives at multiple facilities. This candidate will collaborate with team-membersthroughout the organization to ensure regulatory compliance, product safety, and implementation of best-practices.DutiesPlanning & ReportingStrategically develop and implement Quality department annual goals, compliance objectives and KPIs to measure the teams key metrics of success.Implement and continuously improve quality metrics, interpretation and application of data to facilitate continuous improvement. Maintain and improve Google Sheets dashboards for batch results, testing data, defects, and quality KPI reporting.Lead major department initiatives, including new product introduction, supplier qualification audits/activities, and environmental monitoring program deployment.Manage the Quality and testing budget.Quality ManagementEnsure food safety and quality standards are met across our facilities and multiple diverse product lines adhering to GSFI and other regulatory requirements.Responsible for the creation and management of process documents including Batch Production Records, SOPs, SSOPs, eSOPs, and CAPAs.Oversee ongoing development and implementation of supplier qualification and audit processes.Manage product label reviews for compliance and the ongoing maintenance of label revisions.Ensure sanitation and environmental monitoring activities are acceptable by implementing validation and verification activities to confirm the effectiveness of sanitation activities and responding appropriately when out-of-spec events occur.Develop and execute compliance and documentation requirements across R&D, Testing, Supply Chain, Production, Packaging for new product types and formats, from product and process development through launch and product lifespan.Manage all third-party potency, micro, and contaminant testing; oversee review of COAs and resolve deviations. Develop and refine specific testing plans for state compliance.Ensure standards for all facility and product certifications are being met or exceeded by assisting in the development, implementation, and enforcement of processes and procedures. Manage all audits and certifications holistically from start to finish: interfacing with auditors, conducting the audits, and managing internal standards.Assist in the handling of customer inquiries and/or complaint events, including rapidly identifying potential issues and undertaking further investigations. Lead the team to proactively address issues and drive for minimal complaints through partnership with the Customer Service team.Design, conduct, and coordinate stability studies to assess product shelf life and safety.Analyze production and testing data to identify trends and potential improvements.LeadershipDirect the Quality department staffing and work assignments to ensure daily tasks are being completed by the department and Quality is actively supporting the organization.Develop and lead the Quality team through hands-on coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
