Job Title: Assistant Men’s Soccer CoachDepartment: PEARClassification: ExemptFTE/Working Schedule: 0.15 FTEPosition OverviewCarleton College, a highly selective liberal arts college, seeks to hire an assistant coach in the Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation (PEAR) Department to assist in phases of a successful and competitive NCAA Division III program. Some evening and weekend hours are required.The typical working schedule for this position is during Carleton’s Academic year, roughly August 1 through May 31st. Athletic coaching appointments are extended on an annual basis.CompensationThe expected salary for this non-benefit eligible position is $16,500.Essential Job Functions/ResponsibilitiesEffectively coach and develop student-athletes (goalkeepers and all other position players)Assist with recruitment activities to include: recruitment correspondence, on-campus visits, recruiting travel, and prospect identification Oversee equipment management and reconciliation of equipment expensesOversee team travel arrangements and reconciliation of team travel expensesAssist with preparation for and execution of all practice and game plans to include: on-field instruction for practices and games, creation of practice plans, development of game strategies and competitive coaching, scouting, game prep, and video exchangeComply with the policies and regulations set forth by the NCAA Division III and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (MIAC).Demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship and conduct during practices and contests.Education/Experience/SkillsRequired:BA or BS degree1-2 years coaching or playing at the collegiate level Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the sport, attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to help recruit, teach and coach highly talented scholar-athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environmentValid driver’s license.Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
