Fabrication Build Specialist

Fabrication Build SpecialistThe General Matter Development team is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of new product development, production tooling, and automation equipment for the buildup of the GM Production factory. Technicians work closely with the engineering team to support high-impact projects to grow the GM Production line, from development to a high-volume production system.Responsibilities:Fabricate piece parts to print using machine shop and fabrication equipmentBuilding complex mechanical assemblies to a high standard, which may include, high and low-voltage wiring, and pneumaticsEquipment operation including; forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and tractor trailers, for critical moves/lifts within the facilityBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency certificate4+ years of welding experience including AC/DC TIG, MIG (shielded and none shielded)3+ years of experience in manual machine operations, Milling and Lathe.3+ years of experience using fabrication tools; drill press, sanders, hand tools, cutting torch, plasma cutter, material saws.Preferred Skills and Experience:Able to read blueprints and complete basic shop mathAble to read and interpret fluid or electrical schematicsAble to work independently and problem-solve efficiently with minimal supervisionPositive attitude and ability to work well on a teamWillingness to provide constructive feedback to the engineering and production teams to improve tooling designs, processes, and partsAble to stay organized with strong attention to detailPrecision hole drilling operationsProficient computer skills; comfortable with using email and the Microsoft Office suiteCAD design skills using NX to design basic partsLaser tracking ExperienceAdditional Requirements:Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. unassistedMust be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as neededEqual Opportunity EmployerGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.Compensation and Benefits:Pay range:Technician /Level 1: $27.00 - $34.50/hourTechnician /Level 2: $34.00 - $44.00/hourCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
