This involves setting up and removing temporary cones, signs, variable message boards, and safety barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tells traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly through active work zones. The Traffic-Control Supervisor must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them, loading, and unloading work zone equipment to and from company vehicles and on the job site. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to performing the requirements of this position to maximize efficiency and safety for their team and the public.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESLead a team of Traffic Control Technicians and Flaggers to set up and maintain temporary work zones.Position temporary work zones; utilizing warning signs, traffic cones, barrels, etc. per Nevada DOT regulatory requirements and standards.Load and unload work zone equipment to and from company vehicles and on the job siteDrive company vehicles to and from job site in safe manner; driving is required for the position.Safely managing traffic through active work zones while standing, grasping a stop/slow paddle, and utilizing radio communicationAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required for the positionFollow all safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipmentAdhere to all Company Policies and ProceduresMust be able to communicate to contractor employees, co-workers, and supervisors effectivelyComplete daily paperwork accuratelyWork well in a team environmentAll other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSMust have a valid Driver's License and safe driving record.High School Diploma or GEDCertification (from ATSSA) as a Worksite Traffic Technician or SupervisorWork experience with leading traffic control set ups and flagging, positioning temporary work zones, safely managing traffic through active work zones, loading, and unloading work zone equipment, and knowledge of safety procedures for securing and transporting cargoKnowledge of the traffic control industry with prior traffic control or road construction experienceKnowledge of safety procedures for securing and transporting cargo is essential; previous experience in traffic control set ups and flagging is requiredAbility to lift and move up to 50 pounds for long periods of timeExcellent attendance required, dependable transportation, good work ethicSuccessfully pass a background/ drug screen and meet Federal DOT requirementsMust be able and willing to travel throughout the state as projects require occasional overnight stay.Awareness of the occupational hazards associated with roadway workAbility to be a vital part of our TEAMResponsibility for performing tasks individually when requiredGeneral maintenance and repair to work related equipment and vehiclePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.Required to walk, sit, stand, bend and stoop.WORKING ENVIRONMENTSilver State Barricade and Sign is located in Sparks, NV.Silver State Barricade and Sign, INFRASTRIPE, LLC company, makes recruitment, employment, promotional and all other Human Resource decisions without regard to age (40 and older), race(including traits historically associated with race, which includes hair texture, hair type, and protective hairstyles such as braids, locks, and twists), color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation (including transgender status, gender identity or expression), pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation, and related medical conditions), physical or mental disability, genetic information (including testing and characteristics), veteran status, uniformed servicemember status, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local laws.
