This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical issues, managing multiple service calls, and building strong, trusted relationships with customers.The Service Technician will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install HVAC/R systems across a variety of commercial and industrial environments while serving as a key point of contact for customers and internal project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a primary on‑site representative of IMD, delivering high‑quality service and maintaining strong customer relationshipsDiagnose, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install HVAC/R equipment and systemsCoordinate service work across multiple jobs, accounts, and customer sites simultaneouslyCommunicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and project teams regarding work status, findings, and recommendationsReview building layouts, equipment conditions, and job requirements to plan and execute service work effectivelyUtilize diagnostic tools, hand tools, software, blueprints, and engineering specifications to complete work accuratelyEnsure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and site safety standardsMaintain accountability for company tools, equipment, and materialsDemonstrate flexibility in work schedule; occasional overtime and/or weekend work may be requiredTechnical Experience & SkillsThe ideal candidate will be able to independently diagnose and service:Small tonnage packaged A/C unitsLarge tonnage VAV units (up to 120 tons)Boilers (maintenance, annual inspections, and repairs)Water pumps, including motor bearings and pump seal replacementChilled water and hot water loop systemsAir‑side airflow and distribution issuesVRF systemsAdditional SkillsStrong customer service mindset and professional presenceAbility to build and maintain long‑term customer relationshipsComfortable working in fast‑paced, multi‑job service environmentsClear, confident communication skillsPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to use basic hand and power tools (tape measure, drills, calculators, construction‑related tools)Ability to climb ladders and work at heights or on elevated platformsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the workdayComfortable working in commercial and industrial job environmentsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrior HVAC/R service experience requiredStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsBasic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferredActive Union member may apply and will be considered equally to Non-Union applicants.About LegenceLegence (Nasdaq: LGN) is a leading provider of engineering, consulting, installation, and maintenance services for mission-critical systems in buildings.
