The Sr. Public Cloud Architect will be expert in Azure and will work directly with Northern Trust employees and consulting partners. This Architect will be responsible for collaborating with application development teams in the Business Unit (BU) CIO organizations to “jump start” and accelerate their public cloud projects and to pair with the BU CIO Architects and Engineers to make them self-sufficient in the longer term, while ensuring adherence to:

· Least Privileged Access
· 100% Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Deployment
· All other CCOE Best Practices
Required Experience
· 6+ years of experience in engineering, operations, development, and support in a public cloud environment
· Azure IaaS and Azure PaaS
· Strong experience with DevSecOps tools such as Github Repositories, Github Actions, Terraform, WIZ, and automated testing tools
· Infrastructure provisioning with Terraform
· Communicating effectively to management at all levels
· Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
· Public Cloud networking and Public Cloud security
· Strong experience with cloud monitoring tools, application performance monitoring tools, operational dash-boarding and secure development practices/operations
· Architecting complex public cloud and hybrid cloud applications in a heavily regulated industry
· Paired programming or equivalent methodologies to accelerate application teams and make them proficient in Northern’s Azure architecture, CI/CD/DevSecOps practices, security policies, high availability / DR strategies, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
· Some experience with NoSQL databases, Azure Tables or Cosmos DB a plus
· Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related discipline
Responsibilities:
· Partnering with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) Cloud Foundation Team to ensure that BU Applications follow all standards, patterns, blueprints, policies, and processes as defined
· Assist BU Application teams with architecture, design, development, deployment, and configuration management solutions for deployments across multiple Business Units
· Participate in security initiatives, including access control, Azure policy implementation, and DevSecOps
· Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
· Support code deployments in all environments
· Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery
· Develop and publish patterns and blueprints for common Application use cases.
· Develop system health metrics both for real time monitoring and usability recommendations
· Collaborate with the BU application development teams on shared objectives
· Provision new servers and services in Azure with Terraform, Configuration Orchestration management with Terraform
· Manage and deploy custom scripts in a heavily automated environment
· Migrate servers and services to Azure infrastructure and PaaS solutions
· Manage and execute multiple concurrent projects
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
