Rotary Wing Lecturer (NonTenure Line Faculty)

The Department of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies(OWLS) at Texas State University is seeking a full-time (nontenure track, nine-month appointment) Lecturer with specialized aviation knowledge to teach weather, crew safety, and similar non-flight school courses. This instruction, in addition to the ground and flight school courses offered by the university’s flight school providers, prepare students specifically for rotorcraft (and fixed wing) piloting careers, aligned with FAA Airman Certification Standards for private and commercial helicopter ratings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching core courses that are integral to the Aviation Science major within the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree program as well as serving as a faculty liaison with flight school partners.Specific Duties IncludeTeach undergraduate aviation courses (such as weather, crew safety, etc.) in the OWLS Department in an online, in-person, or hybrid delivery system.Work remotely with some travel to in-person events, to teach hybrid courses and some required in-person office hours.Assist with updating and creating new undergraduate curriculum related to aviation. An ideal candidate will provide evidence of outstanding teaching experience in higher education.Occasional onsite visits to the university’s flight school partners.All positions are subject to availability of funds.
