Installation Design Engineer (2024-129)
JOB SUMMARY
The Cabin Electronics team in Astronics AES is looking for a early to mid-career engineer experienced with wire design of aircraft cables and installations. This person will work closely and mentor with the rest of the Installation Engineering team, Customer Program Managers and the Product Development team to directly support the aircraft OEMs and airlines around the world.
The successful candidate for this role will have demonstrated the ability for work independently, be detail-oriented while also understanding how a whole system works together and have experience working closely with customers and suppliers as a partner. An understanding of the business impacts from technical decisions is also strongly desired.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare electrical/mechanical installation drawings, associated parts lists, and written installation instructions per engineering and regulatory requirements.
Perform calculations and analysis required for aircraft equipment installation and certification to include but not limited to, system electrical load analysis data and record per engineering documents requirements.
Perform component selection, system cable design and prepare assembly drawings and associated parts list per engineering, manufacturing and regulatory requirements.
Assist in the planning, organization, and management of cable certification to include but not limited to certification plan development, preparation of engineering submittals for certification approval, and the coordination of conformity inspection and testing of aircraft cables.
Participate in reviewing physical installation of company equipment to ensure compliance to engineering drawings, procedures, and instructions. Immediately resolve errors or conflicts to meet on-time completion and certification of installation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline required from four-year college or university.
Demonstrates competency in the essential functions of the position, typically achieved with 5+ years of direct experience.
Computer Skills:
Autocad, 3-D modeling, MS Project, Word, Excel, ERP system experience
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing pre-employment background check and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.
Base Salary Range is $86,430 - $129,645 per year. Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
