Job OverviewThe North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) - Transportation seeks a Desk Top Support Specialist to join the Client Services Team on a one-year contract. This role is pivotal in leveraging technical expertise to assess, prioritize, and manage IT incident and problem service desk tickets. The Specialist will foster positive client relationships, mentor peers, and own customer issues with a proactive approach to resolution.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and appropriately prioritize IT incident and problem tickets, assessing their business impact.Maintain strong customer relationships while mentoring fellow team members to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.Provide timely status updates on progress to customers, Customer Support Specialists, and the Service Desk using a call tracking system.Assist team members by applying significant technical knowledge to resolve complex IT challenges, including the installation and imaging of new computers and the deployment of business applications.Collaborate with Data Center Operations on user data management, network reservations, and account modifications.Lead project initiatives, integrating the strengths of team members to achieve project and organizational success while providing regular updates to management.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures for operational consistency and compliance with operational and service level agreements.Implement IT security policies to safeguard systems and data from unauthorized access and ensure adherence to established standards.Required SkillsExtensive technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and networking protocols.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues effectively.Proficiency in installing and configuring computers and peripherals.Knowledge of user profile management and data migration processes.Familiarity with IT security policies and best practices.Strong communication skills for providing updates and managing projects.QualificationsProven experience in a technical support role within an IT environment.Strong understanding of IT systems and security protocols.Previous experience in project management and team leadership is highly desirable.Excellent problem-solving abilities combined with effective communication skills.Career Growth OpportunitiesThis role offers a unique chance to further develop your technical skills and project management capabilities while collaborating with various teams dedicated to organizational success.Compensation And BenefitsCompensation: Up to $40/hour on a W-2 basis.Employment Type: Contractor
