This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.)TasksTransports and oversees offenders assigned to community service; provides training and oversight to new community service crew leaders; checks vehicle prior to departure; takes appropriate steps to ready vehicle for use; transports passengers to work site; sets up appropriate roadside warning devices; provides safety and work equipment to workers; provides instruction and oversight to workers; reviews work completed; provides assistance and direction to complete work assignments.Provides training and support related to the safe operation of vehicles and equipment. Monitors equipment and supply needs and usage; works at times outside the traditional work schedule. Occasionally will determine physical ability to perform work required by offenders. Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to supervision of offenders on worksites such as the program office for grounds keeping, building cleaning or light maintenance.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other CharacteristicsKnowledge of Hamilton County policies and procedures.Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of supervision.Knowledge of the basic principles of record keeping.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with employees, community service workers, and the public.Skill in communicating and producing daily reports.Skill in organizing and coordinating those supervised to accomplish program goals and objectives.Skill effectively communicating in both oral and written form.Ability to supervise others performing community service.Minimum QualificationsThe equivalent of a high school diploma and a valid driver's license.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:A valid driver's license with "F" endorsement (or the equivalent from your state of residence) is required at the time of hire or must be obtained within three (3) months of date of hire.Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van.This classification requires the applicant to possess at the time of hire or obtain first aid and CPR certifications within three (3) months of date of hire. First aid and CPR certifications are offered by the County at no cost to the employee.Defensive driving certification is required at time of hire or must be obtained within three (3) months of date of hire. The defensive driving course is offered by the County at no cost to the employee. Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.SAFETY SENSITIVE:This position has been identified as "safety sensitive" under the definition of 49CFR Part 40-Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Policy.
