Interface Analyst - Intermediate
UPMC is looking for an Interface Analyst Intermediate to join their team. This position will be fully remote.DescriptionThe UPMC ISD Interoperability Development team seeks an Epic Bridges interface analyst to support, maintain, and develop integrations across the many systems in use throughout the organization. Job responsibilities will include support for and maintenance of existing production interfaces as well as all aspects of Bridges interface implementation including design, customization, testing, installation, and documentation. This is a 100% remote position. Resources will communicate and collaborate using Microsoft Office and Teams, both on-camera and off.Responsibilities: Support daily production operations of systems integrations utilizing Epic Bridges and an applied understanding of general workflows and functionality of many different modules within Epic (i.e. Chart Review, Data Courier, Patient Station, Interconnect etc.) Demonstrate working knowledge of healthcare integration standards: primarily HL7, also XML and X12 Develop a thorough understanding of the Design, Development, and Delivery processes. Follow integration department policy and procedures for interface development. Development tasks will include enhancements and fixes to existing interfaces as well as new integration projects. Participate in regular upgrade tasks such as reading/analyzing assigned release notes, documenting changes, and participating in unit testing and integrated testing as needed. Analyst will occasionally be required to support overnight, weekend upgrade builds tasks and validation. Resolve production interface errors captured by work queues. Analyze trends and present/introduce enhancements. Participate in regular on-call daylight support and after-hours/weekend rotations. Follow documented, established processes in all tasks, providing feedback and suggestions for improvements and enhancements when applicable. Write supporting documentation contributing to the body of knowledge related to the Epic Bridges application and all interfaces. Collaborate with others on UPMC’s interoperability team in order to implement data formatting changes, establish endpoint connectivity, and investigate issues with data being sent across the interface engine. Communicate respectfully, clearly, and effectively with a wide variety of teams, colleagues, end-users and leadership. Both written and oral communication skills are highly important in all interactions in order to build positive relationships and accomplish day-to-day work and projects. Coordinate with other teams across and outside of the organization; attend and host meetings related to assigned projects. Qualifications Typically has 2+ years of related work experience. Demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function. Knowledgeable in system hardening techniques as well as user access levels. Knowledge of the framework (component, container, server, and underlying services) or similar concepts on other technologies. Knowledge of remote method invocation, naming and directory services, framework remote operations and location transparency persistence, threading, caching, resource management, and component lifecycle, and applies these techniques, or similar concepts with assistance. Knowledge of software and hardware tools to diagnose problems and factors affecting system performance. Preferred Qualifications: Typically has 2+ years of experience of HL7 integration with an electronic medical records system. Demonstrated ability to perform standard IT procedures in a complex environment, including change controls in a production environment. Strong communication skills are critical. The analyst will be required to effectively communicate and collaborate with resources both inside and outside of the organization and at all levels of the organization. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a willingness to dig in order to “get to the bottom” of an issue. This position will be required to maintain off-hours and weekend support as part of a rotation within the team. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the weekly rotation. Experience with a Unix command-line environment and FTP file management. Epic Bridges certification.
