Security Engineering Manager, Kuiper Security
Overview
In this role you lead the security engineering team responsible for Amazon Leo's product, environment, and customer data protection. You shape long-term security strategy while responding to emerging threats across Leo, enterprise, manufacturing, and lab environments. You partner with cross-functional teams to raise security standards and drive measurable improvements. This role offers the challenge of influencing security direction at scale within a start-up-like environment backed by Amazon infrastructure.

ResponsibilitiesManage and grow a team of security engineers and program managersDrive strategic security initiatives, roadmap, and metrics for Leo products and operationsCoordinate with Amazon security response teams and partner organizationsDefine vision, strategy, and long-term security roadmap; lead executionOversee recruitment, professional development, and organizational structureImplement process improvements and performance tracking across teamsLead cross-team collaboration (Security, Project Kuiper, Leo enterprises) to deploy secure solutionsMentor and represent the team in planning and external communicationsIdentify trends in security findings and drive remediation at source
Key requirements5+ years of managing and developing security-focused teams5+ years of progressive work in software security or related operating environmentBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related fieldKnowledge of web service security, cryptography, network and OS securityExperience applying threat modeling or risk identification techniquesStrong verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across organizationsExperience in security engineering management or leading engineering teamsPreferred: information security certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC) and advanced degreestrong communicationcross-functional collaborationleadership and people developmentsecurity design reviewthreat modelingrisk analysis
