Tax Director - Glendale/Encino

Our holistic approach to client services leverages us to be a trusted advisor to businesses, non-profits, and high-net-worth individuals.The successful candidate will work directly with Partners at the firm to provide tax services to our clients. This position will oversee the entire Tax Department. In addition, due to soon-to-be retiring Partners in need of transitioning clients, after an initial tax season to settle in, this position will inherit a sizeable book of business which will continue to grow with additional referrals and inherited clients. This role has a very strong path to partnership. Responsibilities/RequirementsProvide tax advice and business advisory services for individuals, partnerships, corporations, non-profits and trustsPerform technical review of tax returns; provide review notes to tax preparersResolve advanced tax issues, audits, and regulatory inquiriesOversee the entire tax department in collaboration with the firm's Partners in order to lead operational and technology decisions as well as technical mentorship and ensure the delivery of high-quality tax services to clientsParticipate in recruiting and retention effortsFoster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the teamAssume client relationship management and work closely with Partners to service clients. Our ideal candidate would be able to begin managing clients transitioned to them from Partners before extension season gets busy, or at the latest before the end of the year. This candidate is expected to inherit a sizeable book from soon-to-be-retiring Partners, and be able to grow that book through strong client retention as well as the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunitiesParticipate in networking, marketing, and proposal developmentContribute to the firm’s strategic growth initiativesThis position directly oversees several Tax Managers, who in turn oversee all Tax AssociatesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree in Taxation preferredMinimum 7 years of experience working in TaxCPA license requiredExperience reviewing and directing work of tax preparers is requiredDeep knowledge of tax compliance, planning, and consultingLocationThe firm has offices in Glendale and Encino. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days per week in-office. For this position there would be an expectation that you work from both offices from time to time in order to get to know the entire team and work closely with all Partners. We work normal workweeks during tax season (including extension season) and the rest of the year employees may choose to opt-in to a 9/80 schedule, which means you work 9-hour days on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; every-other Friday you alternate between an 8-hour day, and a full day off. This provides for a 3-day weekend every-other week, while still getting 80-hours into a bi-weekly period.
