We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.Job SummaryThe Machine Operator is responsible for operating complex equipment and assisting with projects. All team members are responsible for the safety and quality standards are delivered and maintained to operating standards. Operators will manufacture products by using a variety of equipment, machines, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly manufacture specified parts. Once the equipment is set up the provide parts to the quality department for sign off on parts and process.Essential Functions:Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and ProceduresWorks with supervisors and teams to manage and prioritize work assignments/production schedules are metUse basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the equipmentReport problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Production SupervisorIdentify and support continuous improvement efforts with Production SupervisorParticipate as an active member of the production team and manufacture productsFollow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality SystemFollow detailed manufacturing instructions, processes, and proceduresA willingness to learn new technologies and equipment that may develop within the companyMaintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functionsProcess treatment of materials and monitor equipment for proper operationIdentify the material that is recyclable to processAdjust, program, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on equipmentRegular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibilityKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsWork well with conflicting priorities and deadlinesStrong organizational skillsStrategic thinkerStrong work ethicAdapt easily to changing conditions, requirements, and environmentSelf-directed, independent workerTactful, diplomatic, empathetic - Says the right thing, knows how to bridge gaps of understanding, and is sensitive to othersAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints, procedure manualsAbility to communicate effectively through oral and written communicationsAbility to analyze and solve problemsAbility to work with others collaborativelyStrong organizational skills and basic math skillsEducation and/or ExperienceThe employee should have the following:High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant fieldPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentThe employee should possess the ability to:Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortableWithstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or outProlong standing or in stationary positionComplete repetitive movementsBend and/or twistLift/move/transport items up to 50 poundsAbility to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditionsMust be able to wear required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection, safety shoes etc.)Hourly rate: $20.69- $21.79Westlake is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
