Higgins Wellington is looking for an experienced and motivated Leading Hand - Civil to join our team. This is a hands on role where you'll support the Foreperson/Supervisor in leading day to day civil construction activities, ensuring safe, high quality and efficient delivery across our projects.If you enjoy working outdoors, have strong civil construction experience, and are confident leading small crews, this is a great opportunity to step up and make an impact.What you'll be doing:Assist the Foreperson/Supervisor with planning and supervising daily civil construction activitiesLead and support operators, labourers, subcontractors and labour hire staff on siteEnsure all civil works (earthworks, pavements, drainage, footpaths, kerb & channel, structures) are delivered safely and to specificationCoordinate plant, materials and resources to keep work flowing efficientlyMaintain strong communication with the team, clients and site stakeholdersEnsure all work is completed in line with Higgins' safety, quality and environmental standardsSupport a positive team culture and help train and mentor less experienced crew membersWhat you'll bring to the role:Proven experience in civil construction or maintenance environmentsExperience supervising or leading small crewsStrong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, tools and equipmentAbility to read plans, understand levels and follow site instructionsExperience with lasers, small plant and machinery is an advantageClass 1 licence required – Class 2 and WTR endorsements are a bonusPhysically fit, reliable and committed to safe work practicesA positive attitude and willingness to work flexible hours when requiredCome join the green team:Competitive hourly ratePermanent, full time role with guaranteed 40 hours per weekKiwiSaver employer contribution matched up to 4%Opportunities to upskill and gain further licences or qualificationsGreat benefits for you and your familyAccess to educational funds for you and your childrenSchool holiday programme and tutoring supportDiscounts with partners including Southern Cross, ANZ, Z Energy, PlaceMakers, Mico and SamsungHiggins is a leading roading and civil infrastructure company in New Zealand.
