About the Role
Gauntlet is seeking an Accounting Lead to own our month‑end close, revenue and expense cycles, digital‑asset accounting, and other core accounting processes. This high‑impact role is the operational backbone of the accounting team, driving accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness. You will work across revenue, digital‑asset ledgers, vendor management, expense accounting, and financial controls, and will help facilitate relationships with external tax and audit providers. You’ll have the opportunity to grow leadership skills by supervising and mentoring a Senior Accountant while collaborating closely with the Controller and CFO.
Responsibilities Own the entire monthly close process
Prepare and review accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and GL classifications
Maintain the digital asset subledger: cost basis, MTM, realized/unrealized G&L
Ensure proper accounting documentation, SOPs, and internal controls
Oversee the revenue cycle from billing to collections
Maintain revenue recognition schedules
Review JEs and collaborate with Controller on complex accounting matters
Oversee AP and expense workflows, review spend analyses and ensure proper GL mapping
Prepare workpapers for financial audit and tax filings
Draft initial tax notice responses, maintain nexus tracking, maintain tax filing tracker
Drive automation improvements with systems and processes
Qualifications At least 4 years of accounting experience; mix of public accounting and industry preferred
Strong understanding of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting (ASC 606, asset valuations, GAAP)
Experience owning or heavily contributing to period‑end close processes
High proficiency with Google Suite, Xero (or other accounting ERP), and modern tools
Ability to operate in ambiguity with strong ownership and accountability
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communicator with cross‑functional partnership experience
Bonus Points Crypto or digital asset accounting experience
Understanding of yield‑bearing products, staking, or DeFi vault structures
Prior startup experience in a high‑growth environment
CPA, or progress toward one
Prior experience managing or leading a team

The national pay range for this role is $120,000 – $140,000 base plus additional On Target Earnings potential by level and equity in the company. Individual pay rate decisions are based on qualifications, experience level, skill set, and internal equity.
