Title: Business Development RepresentativeEmployment Type: Full-TimeFLSA Status: Exempt Role Description:The Business Development Representative will drive census and revenue growth by developing, strengthening, and managing referral relationships across the behavioral health continuum. This role is responsible for expanding Windmill Wellness' presence within an assigned territory and generating qualified patient referrals through strategic outreach to healthcare, clinical, judicial, employer, and community partners. The Business Development Representative will represent Windmill's full continuum of behavioral health and substance use disorder services and serve as a trusted resource to referral partners seeking appropriate treatment options for their patients, clients, employees, and families.About Windmill:Windmill Wellness was recently acknowledged amongst San Antonio Express-News’ Top Workplaces in 2025, and was named in Newsweek’s America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers 2025 list. Healing the body, mind and spirit requires specialty and highly educated staff trained to deal with the core issue, which is never the substance that is being abused.Our mission is to improve the physical, spiritual and emotional health of the individual and their family through an integrated healing system including the latest technologies, group support, nursing, psychiatry, and intensive therapy.Responsibilities:Develop and manage referral relationships across multiple behavioral health verticals, including hospitals and health systems, behavioral health and psychiatric facilities, group practices, individual clinicians, physicians, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, EAPs, judicial and legal partners, recovery professionals, alumni, and other treatment providersBuild relationships with key decision-makers and referral influencers within targeted accounts, including clinical leadership, discharge planners, case Representatives, social workers, HR and EAP professionals, attorneys, court and judicial professionals, and community organizationsIdentify, develop, and execute territory strategies designed to increase qualified referrals, admissions, market penetration, and revenueMaintain a consistent field presence through face-to-face meetings, facility visits, clinical presentations, networking events, conferences, and community outreach, while tracking outreach activity, referral sources, opportunities, admissions, and outcomes in the CRMEducate referral partners on Windmill's programs, levels of care, clinical capabilities, admissions criteria, and differentiators; collaborate closely with Admissions, Clinical, Marketing, and Commercial leadership to ensure a seamless experience from referral through admission and treatmentDevelop strategic partnerships with organizations serving individuals and families experiencing mental health, substance use, trauma, and co-occurring disorders; monitor referral patterns, competitive activity, market trends, and unmet treatment needs and provide actionable market intelligence to leadershipMaintain consistent communication and follow-up with referral partners, provide appropriate program and patient updates when authorized, develop new referral channels, grow existing high-value relationships, and coordinate educational and community events that strengthen Windmill's visibility in the behavioral health marketInteract professionally and compassionately with prospective patients and family members when appropriate, helping them understand available programs, levels of care, and next steps while maintaining appropriate clinical and professional boundaries.Support the admissions process by facilitating warm handoffs between referral partners, prospective patients, families, and the Admissions team, helping reduce barriers and support a timely transition into care.Collaborate closely with Admissions to follow referral activity from initial inquiry through assessment and admission, identify barriers to conversion, and strengthen the overall referral and patient experience.Ideal Qualifications/Requirements: 2+ years of behavioral health business development, healthcare sales, provider relations, or referral development experience preferredDemonstrated success in building and maintaining professional partnershipsStrong communication, follow-up, and interpersonal skillsLocal knowledge of the behavioral health, healthcare, clinical, judicial, EAP, and treatment provider landscape preferredPassion for mental health, addiction recovery, and helping othersReliable transportation and willingness to travel locally (mileage reimbursed)Essential Job Functions and Physical Requirements:To successfully perform this role, individuals must be able to:Travel frequently to external meetings, events, and partner sites, which may involve prolonged driving and walkingCommunicate clearly and effectively in person and over the phoneMaintain a flexible work schedule that may include evenings or weekends for community eventsPerform duties in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settingsCompensation and Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience and qualificationsPaid time off (PTO)Health, dental, vision insuranceLife insurance
