In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.POSITION OVERVIEWLegacy Early College (“Legacy”) is looking for an Elementary School Music Teacher (General Music, Strings and/or Choir) with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. We feature a pre-existing robust inventory of strings and percussion instruments. You will be joining a cohort of dedicated and passionate teachers who are also established professional artists.The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed through college and beyond. This position reports to the School Principal.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDutiesPlans a balanced music program, and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsDifferentiate music curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body.Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisorEstablishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performancesEmploy a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectivesMaintains care and responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuseTake necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the school for all studentsMaintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulationsAssist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conductParticipate in all professional development opportunitiesActively participate in team meetings and serve on staff committeesMaintain a professional relationship with colleaguesCommunicates clearly with parents and school faculty/staff on the progress of individual studentsPerform other job-related duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum bachelor’s degree in Music or Music EducationSouth Carolina teaching certificate, preferredSpanish speaking ability, preferredStrong organization and project management skillsStrong instrumental skills, including piano accompanimentExceptional attention to detail and follow-throughQuaverMusic experience, strongly encouragedK-12 teaching experience, highly preferredWork ScheduleThis position operates on the 195-day schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salaries are based on education, certification, and experience.State PEBA benefits include medical, dental, and vision, as well as additional benefits.Vanguard 401k: Employee Invest 6% + Employer Match 8% = 14%Paid time off, school closure, and 10 holidays.On-site fitness centerPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that the employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Long-standing and sitting periods and the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs are required.Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.Position might require travel.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
