Quantitative Researcher

I’m hiring a Quantitative Researcher for a seed stage AI cybersecurity company in San Francisco. They stop account takeover attacks for over 2.5 million users across 10,000+ businesses, and they already have very low churn and a packed inbound pipeline. The founders come from Bridgewater, Palo Alto Networks and Abnormal Security. The team includes quants from SIG and Point72.
The work:
  • This is quant research with a far better signal to noise ratio than markets. It feels like mid frequency alt data research, but you can use sophisticated methods without worrying about overfitting.
  • Build and improve ML models for account compromise detection, targeting 100% recall and near 100% precision
  • Solve forensics problems by separating attacker activity from real user activity
  • Own the full pipeline: pull your own data, clean it, engineer features, model itChoose architectures with production latency in mind, then ship and maintain your own code
  • What they’re looking for 4+ years as a Quantitative Researcher at a top hedge fund or prop trading firm
  • Strong statistics, linear algebra and anomaly detection fundamentals
  • Experience shipping ML models to production, not just notebooks
  • Python, SQL and GitBS or higher in CS, Maths, Statistics or another quantitative field from a top program (MS or PhD a plus)
  • Alt data experience in mid frequency equities is a big plus
  • The package$210K to $270K base, plus seed stage equity5 days a week onsite in San FranciscoH1B and OPT transfers considered; new sponsorship for exceptional candidates
