Structured Cabling Technician
*Riva is hiring experienced Structured Cabling Technicians for commercial construction projects in the Denver metro area. This hands-on field role supports complete copper-cabling installations from pathway and cable placement through termination, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.*
THE OPPORTUNITY
The right technician can work independently on Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 systems. You understand that a complete installation includes pathways, spaces, cabling, telecom-room hardware, cross-connections, labeling, testing, and clean documentation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
* Install, pull, route, dress, label, terminate, test, and troubleshoot commercial structured cabling
* Install assignment-approved cable supports and pathways such as J-hooks, basket tray, ladder rack, racks, and related hardware
* Build out telecom spaces and install, dress, label, and terminate patch panels, 110 blocks, racks, and distribution hardware
* Perform system testing and troubleshooting as needed
* Read and follow floor plans, drawings, specifications, cable schedules, cut sheets, and assignment standards
* Record work completed, test results, deficiencies, and project status
* Communicate professionally with project leaders, other trades, customers, and building representatives
* Support installers and perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* At least one year of structured-cabling experience or construction/related-industry experience
* Ability to distinguish cable color codes
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
* Basic telecom tools such as punch-down tools, snips, wire strippers, and a cordless drill
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with every item is not required.
* Telecom-room buildout, rack-and-stack work, patch-panel installation, cable dressing, and 110-block termination
* Working knowledge of applicable BICSI, TIA/EIA, or NEC standards
* OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training
* Adjacent experience with fiber, access control, CCTV/security, fire alarm, AV, DAS/wireless, or building automation
WORKING WITH RIVA
* Candidates selected for assignments are hired as W-2 employees of Riva.
* Riva manages employment administration and weekly payroll.
* Before an assignment, Riva shares the available customer, location, expected schedule, trade classification, known requirements, and pay rate.
* The assigned licensed customer contractor directs and supervises day-to-day jobsite work.
* Opportunities, schedules, and assignment details vary according to contractor needs.
SAFETY
* Follow all Riva, client, and jobsite safety requirements.
* Use required PPE, follow safe work practices, and speak up when conditions are not right.
* Maintain orderly work areas and protect installed cable, equipment, finished surfaces, and other trades.
TOOLS AND PPE
* Employees must provide basic telecom tools such as punch-down tools, snips, wire strippers, and a cordless drill.
* Riva or the assigned client provides standard PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves, along with any additional PPE required for a specific task or job site.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a field position performed at commercial customer and construction sites. The role may require:
* Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and working overhead
* Using hand and power tools
* Climbing and working from ladders or elevated work areas
* Working indoors and outdoors in changing weather and active-jobsite conditions
* Driving between job sites within the assigned territory
* Lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Pay: The anticipated pay range is $20.00–$35.00 per hour, based on relevant experience, verified technical capabilities, certifications, and assignment requirements.
Benefits: All Riva employees are paid weekly and receive Colorado paid sick and safe leave.
