This position involves performing a wide variety of welding and cutting operations in accordance with blueprints, layouts, and welding procedures. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of welding techniques, safety standards, and equipment operation in industrial or fabrication environments.What You'll Do Here:Set up and operate arc welding machines to join metal components per specificationsWeld flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts in various positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, or overheadVisually inspect welds for quality and conformance to standardsPrepare metal surfaces for welding using grinders, brushes, or chemical bathsPerform interpass grinding and penetrant testingPreheat workpieces using a hand torch or heating furnaceRemove slag, flux, and spatter from weldsLay out, fit, and tack-weld components using jigs, clamps, and fixturesUse manual, submerged arc, and gas-shielded arc welding techniquesOperate oxy-fuel and arc-cutting equipment for cutting, trimming, or beveling metalSet up equipment and select torch tips, filler wire, electrodes, and gas mixturesFollow diagrams and layouts to determine welding and cutting pathsEnsure safety compliance by using all required PPE including respirators when necessaryWork in confined spaces, at heights exceeding 50 feet, and in varied outdoor weather conditionsMove and position compressed gas cylinders, welding cables, and leads as neededTools and Equipment Used:Welding hoods, gloves, goggles, grindersChipping hammers, files, wrenches, wire brushesOxygen-acetylene torches, arc welders, and air-supplied or purifying respiratorsThis is not for a current project.
