Subject Matter Expert

Position Summary: The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the primary source of knowledge globally in all areas of the designated subject. Interfacing with the global engineering community on technical issues and strategy. Growing, developing and maintaining strong relationships with the global engineering team.Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:Serve as the corporate leading authority in the specified material and associated processes Deep understanding of material properties and associated proceeses to achieve properties Lead contact for external raw material providers for technical exchanges Support Application engineering and Product managers in pursuits and technical needs relating to material Help with the identification of the right material composition for varius applicationsProvide Subject Matter Expertise Stay current on the industry through trade shows and research Continuously seek to learn Inform the engineering community on internal and external global capabilities Advocate for the application of area of expertise Perform studies to support learnings and innovation Help build competencies in the engineering teams through live training and/or training materials Document and maintain standards and best practices related to their area of expertise Ensure new applications are utilizing current standards and best practices Developing internal/external facing materials that highlight the value / advantage of Shape (in context of their subject matter) Functional deployment of SM technology to IPEX/OperationsSupporting Product Managers Support product innovation Support the development of baseline designs Develop design standards Support tech showsSupporting the Applications Teams Support customer visits Support feasibility analysis on challenging applications Support the development on challenging applications Support VA/VE acivitiesSupporting Manufacturing Support VA/VE activities Support problem solvingAdditional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.Some international travel will be requiredRequirementsPosition Skills and Experience Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. Automotive experience preferred. Well organized and able to build strong relationships around the world Strong written and verbal communication skills. Innovative problem-solving capabilities. Passionate about the subject and anxious to learn more Fluent in English
