Position InformationPosition Number P00351 Position Title Teaching Assistant - LMS Migration Supervisor Department Business Administration Supervisor Christine Sjolander Location Kelowna Other Flexible Work Options Your OpportunityIn accordance with LOU #7, Teaching Assistants and Laboratory Demonstrators, employees are hired to assist in the Learning Center as peer tutors, employed to perform work which falls under the jurisdiction of the support staff bargaining unit. Employees hired as peer tutors will perform work not normally covered by an existing classification of this bargaining unit.Under the direct supervision of the College Professor the Peer Tutor will provide student-to-student academic coaching to help encourage and strengthen a student. Peer tutors do not provide "answers" but rather assist in the learning process.Functions and DutiesUnder supervision of the College Professor will perform the following duties:1. Assist students with course materials relating to academic subjects in Business Administration or test preparation.2. Help students with subject content according to individual strengths3. Learn and be able to help students with study strategies and techniquesPosition Specific FunctionsThis role will perform the following duties:Support the migration of courses from Moodle to Brightspace.Review and compare existing course Moodle shells against migrated courses in Brightspace using a checklists provided by the Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI) team.Flag inconsistencies and help resolve minor technical issues before the next stage of the course migration process.Assist with on-boarding faculty and students to the new system.Performs other related duties similar in scope, as assigned.Education and ExperienceMust be currently enrolled and have completed at least 48 credits in a Business Administration program, preferably in the degree program with a strong grasp on the subject matter in their program. Must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 75% prior to and during the contract term.Skills and Abilities1. Thorough understanding of relative subjects2. Ability to support the academic development of the student being tutored by assisting in the understanding of concepts in a specific course3. Strong interpersonal, problem solving, communication and time management skills4.
