MOHS Histotech/Medical Assistant
Overview:
Wallis Dermatology Associates is growing and we are seeking a skilled and dedicated MOHS Technician to join our team. This is a full-time position that will be primarily based at our new Tyler, TX location scheduled to open in 2025 (until then the position will be based in Longview, TX).
Responsibilities:
-MOHS Tech-
Under the directorship of the Mohs surgeon performs frozen tissue preparations for microscopic examination.
Uses Mohs frozen section technique to freeze, cut, and stain frozen tissue sections.
Recognizes adequacy of cryosectioning.
Labels specimens as appropriate.
Operates automated instrumentation to stain microscopic slides.
Evaluates stains microscopically for acceptable results.
Identifies and corrects staining deficiencies.
Performs manual methods during instrument downtimes.
Recognizes, resolves, and documents unacceptable staining and coverslipping results and/or instrument failure.
Maintains logbook of Mohs specimens as well as other manual and electronic records for easy retrieval of data as necessary.
-Medical Assitant-
Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, assist doctor with patient care.
Escort patient to and from exam room, help patient prepare for exam.
Clean and straighten exam room.
Procedure tray, instrument and equipment setup.
Transcribe patient appoints in Nextech practice management system.
Communicate with patients regarding questions, prescription refills, path/lab results, etc.
Requirements:
2+ years MOHS Tech and Medical Assistant experience preferred
Certified Medical Assistant preferred
