Property Controller
Your New CompanyA long-standing Real Estate company is looking for an experienced Property Controller to lead the accounting and financial oversight for an industrial portfolio. This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys partnering with property management, leasing teams, and clients to drive accurate reporting, strong financial performance, and informed decision-making.Your New RoleAs Property Controller, you will have end‑to‑end responsibility for property-level accounting and financial analysis, including:Overseeing all accounting functions for an assigned portfolio (GL, AR, AP, cash management)Managing month-end and quarter-end close processes, including accruals and financial statementsDelivering timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to stakeholders and clientsReviewing and analyzing financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and GAAP/tax basis compliancePreparing operating budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts in partnership with property and leasing teamsPerforming variance analyses and providing strategic financial insights to support asset management decisionsOverseeing lease abstraction and validating rent schedules, escalations, recoveries, and concessionsManaging CAM, real estate tax, insurance billings, and annual CAM reconciliationsMonitoring rent collections, AR aging, tenant delinquencies, and recommending collection strategiesOverseeing accounts payable processes, vendor setup, and internal controls complianceSupporting leasing activity analysis, including TI allowances and leasing commissionsSupervising and mentoring accounting staff as applicableWhat You’ll Need to SucceedBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)8+ years of related accounting experience, ideally within commercial or industrial real estateStrong understanding of GAAP and property-level financial reportingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting softwareProven ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings effectivelyCollaborative mindset with the ability to partner cross-functionallyExcellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsWhat You’ll Get in ReturnYou will receive a competitive salary, up to 20% bonus potential, benefits, 17 days PTO starting, 401k, profit sharing, pension plan.
