You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.The OpportunityAs a Senior Associate Software Engineer on the Equinix Fabric team, you will contribute to the development of a programmable, self-service Connectivity‑as‑a‑Service (CaaS) platform that supports mission‑critical global connectivity.This role is ideal for engineers early in their careers who already have hands-on experience building production software and want to grow their skills in distributed systems, cloud integration, and large-scale platforms under the guidance of senior engineers and architects.The RoleYou will work as a hands-on contributor within a collaborative engineering team, implementing features, fixing bugs, and improving platform reliability. You will participate in design discussions, learn best practices for scalable systems, and gradually take on greater technical ownership over time.You are curious, motivated to learn, and comfortable working with guidance while developing confidence in troubleshooting, code quality, and system behavior.Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware DevelopmentImplement and maintain production backend services using Java and Spring following established architectural patternsDevelop RESTful services and business logic using Spring frameworksWrite efficient database queries and perform basic schema design under guidance from senior engineersWrite unit and integration tests using standard Java testing frameworksFollow coding standards, best practices, and secure development guidelinesFeature ContributionContribute to product features from implementation through release, under the guidance of senior engineersHelp diagnose and resolve defects by analyzing logs, metrics, and runtime behaviorGain familiarity with customer use cases and platform SLAsAPI & IntegrationImplement REST APIs following existing API contracts and OpenAPI/Swagger specificationsAssist with integrations between internal services and external cloud partners (AWS, Azure, GCP)Distributed Systems ExposureWork with containerized microservices in Kubernetes and Docker environmentsLearn to operate and troubleshoot systems that are high‑throughput and low‑latency in natureCollaboration & CommunicationCollaborate with engineers, product managers, and QA to deliver features on timeClearly communicate implementation details, questions, and issues within the teamParticipate in code reviews as both author and reviewerQualificationsExperience2–3 years of professional software development experienceExperience contributing to production systems in a team environmentExposure to backend or platform engineering is a plusEducationBachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experienceNetworking & Infrastructure (Foundational Knowledge)Good understanding of networking concepts and the OSI modelFamiliarity with cloud networking fundamentals or interest in learning themExperience using Docker; introductory experience with Kubernetes is a plusDistributed Systems & DataExposure to messaging systems (e.g., Kafka or similar) is a plusWorking knowledge of relational databases and/or NoSQL data storesUnderstanding of basic trade-offs between performance, consistency, and availabilityAPI & Software EngineeringExperience building or consuming REST APIsFamiliarity with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications is preferredUnderstanding of clean code principles and version control (Git)Soft SkillsStrong desire to learn and grow as a software engineerClear and respectful communicationCollaborative mindset and openness to feedbackAbility to follow through on tasks and ask for help when neededThe targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 109,000 - 163,000 USD / AnnualUnited States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 90,000 - 136,000 USD / AnnualOur pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
