Job Summary Role Overview: As a cashier, you'll operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions, provide exceptional service, and maintain the front-end of the store. The emphasis is on creating a welcoming experience for customers seeking hardware, tools, paint, and DIY supplies, while promoting the "Amaze Every Customer Every Time" philosophy. Employment Type: Seasonal, Part-time, or full-time, with flexible schedules including nights, days, weekends, and holidays. Praise worthy customer service is our goal in every customer interaction. Key Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and professionally to ensure a positive shopping experience. Scan items, verify prices and quantities for accuracy, and process all payment types (cash, credit, debit) quickly and securely. Issue receipts, bag purchases, and handle returns or exchanges per store policy. Promote sales by informing customers about promotions, Ace Rewards loyalty program, and relevant products. Maintain front-end areas: clean registers, stock impulse areas, organize displays, and restock shelves as needed. Answer customer inquiries about product locations, features, or basic hardware advice (training provided). Assist with store opening/closing duties, such as cleaning bathrooms, answering phones, and loading customer purchases into vehicles. Troubleshoot minor POS issues and follow cash control procedures to prevent discrepancies. All other duties as assigned by store management Required Qualifications and Skills Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior cashier or retail experience is a plus but not required (extensive on-the-job training provided). Technical Skills: Basic math proficiency for handling transactions and change; familiarity with POS systems (training offered). Soft Skills: Strong customer service orientation with a positive, "yes" attitude; excellent communication and multitasking abilities; teamwork and reliability. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; stand for extended periods; occasional bending, reaching, and stocking. 16 years of age or older; flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular and prompt attendance.
