Located in San Diego, CA, Adapt is a place of hope, support, and inspiration for individuals seeking to overcome obstacles and maximize their potential.Role DescriptionAquatic Therapy Instructor – Neurological RehabilitationHourly / Part-Time PositionOverview:Adapt is seeking a skilled and compassionate Aquatic Therapy Instructor to provide one-on-one aquatic therapy sessions within our neurological rehabilitation center. We serve individuals with neurological injuries, diseases, and diagnoses including multiple sclerosis, ALS, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and other neuromuscular conditions, in addition to clients seeking general wellness support.This role requires someone confident working with special populations and passionate about using water-based therapy to improve mobility, strength, endurance, and overall function.Key Responsibilities:Design and lead individualized 1-on-1 aquatic therapy sessions based on each client’s functional level and goals.Assess mobility, balance, strength, gait mechanics, and endurance in the aquatic environment.Implement safe, progressive aquatic programming to improve neuromuscular coordination, postural control, flexibility, and cardiovascular capacity.Provide hands-on support and appropriate exercise modifications for clients with weakness, spasticity, paralysis, fatigue, or balance impairments.Collaborate with Adapt’s Neurological Recovery Specialists to support integrated care plans.Monitor progress and document outcomes.Maintain strict pool safety standards and professional best practices.Qualifications:Certification in Aquatic Therapy, Water Exercise, or related field (ATRI, AEA, or equivalent).Experience working with neurological or special populations preferred.Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation principles.Current CPR/AED certification (lifeguard certification preferred or willingness to obtain).Compassionate, patient, and adaptable coaching style.What We Offer:A collaborative neurological rehabilitation team environment.Ongoing training in adaptive and neurological recovery.A temperature-controlled therapy pool (4 ft deep, 9 ft long, 4.5 ft wide) designed specifically for focused, 1-on-1 therapeutic sessions.The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on individuals living with neurological conditions.
