Senior Data Engineer
Acquisition NexGen is currently looking for a Sr. Data Engineer for a large Federal Consulting Firm in the DC/VA area.This is a multi-year Hybrid / Consulting role. Candidates must be available to work onsite in McLean, VA 1 day every 2 weeks.Candidates with an Active Secret Security Clearance OR the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance are required.Summary:Develop and utilize the ETL processes to ingest and enrich structured and unstructured data and prepare data to be used for developing complex dashboards to extract valuable insights from data through analytics. Strong usage of Python, PySpark, and SQL to extract valuable insights from data through analytics; experience in Databricks. Perform explanatory data analyses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns; Perform data analytics, create logical and physical data models that not just reflect need of the business requirements, but also optimally work with all data ingestion and data serving processes based on current and future use cases.Responsibilities:•Rapidly architect, design, prototype, implement, and optimize pipelines to tackle Data Access, Data Management and Data Science needs; develop modular code to solve “real” world problems following best practices in the industry.•Utilize data wrangling tools and coding languages such as Python, PySpark, and SQL to extract valuable insights from data through analytics.•Assist in the technical process from ideation to delivery: Research, experiment, and utilize leading data methodologies to build pipelines and scalable analytic tools using leading technologies.•Regularly conduct peer code reviews to ensure code quality provide expert documentation and provide operating guidance for users of all levels. Be a champion for high quality software using TDD and other quality control approaches.•Execute data operations essential for analysis, including tasks such as data cleansing, data integration, and data transformation.•Develop engineering designs impact business performance. Translate between business and technical stakeholders. Leverage technical background to lead technical work and build client relationships.•Monitoring performance and reliability of data systems, identifying and resolving issues while proactively optimizing logic and model performance by code tuning, streamlining and resource allocation.•Stay relevant and ahead of the curve on industry needs and technology trends by growing and participating in cross-disciplinary communities. Lead, mentor and teach team members. Participate in developing and presenting thought leadership.Requirements:•3+ years of experience with programming languages (Python, PySpark, and/or SQL preferred) with the ability to pick up new languages and technologies quickly; ability to rapidly ingest, transform, engineer, and visualize data for both ad hoc and product-level (e.g., automated) data & analytics solutions.•Data quality management: Ability to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency through data validation, cleansing, and error handling techniques.•Data processing and ETL knowledge: Familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools for data ingestion, integration, and transformation.•Data modeling and schema design: Knowledge of data modeling principles and experience in designing efficient and scalable data schemas.•Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or Master's degree from an accredited college/university with 1+ year of experience; or a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or related fields from an accredited college/university•Expertise with development tools and team methodologies (Agile, git, test driven development, CI/CD release management)•Ability to work with other technical team members to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve technical problems; understand engagement objectives which includes a clear understanding of the client’s business problem, and how the engagement helps address the client’s business needs.Qualified Candidates should send a Word/PDF attached copy of their resume to Scott Gilinger at scott.gilinger@acqnexgen.com.
