AvMC is the Army's focal point for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the life cycle. AvMC's mission is to "deliver collaborative and innovative aviation and missile capabilities for responsive and cost-effective research, development, and life cycle engineering solutions" to equip the Warfighter with the best technology today and tomorrow.The Windows Server Administrator will provide Tier III IT operations support for both classified and unclassified environments for AvMC. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining Windows-based servers and ensuring service availability, performance, security, and compliance with AvMC and Army directives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Active Directory, Windows Server, endpoint management, and virtualization technologies, while also supporting cloud integrations and evolving enterprise service delivery models.ResponsibilitiesStrong knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, SCCM/Intune, and virtualization platformsSupport Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) updates to the SOP quarterly or as taskedProficiency in PowerShell scripting, automation tools, and CLI-based administrationFamiliarity with Windows security baselines, compliance frameworks, and patch management policiesStrong troubleshooting skills for Windows OS, server roles, and virtualization issuesThe ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Active Directory, Windows Server, endpoint management, and virtualization technologies, while also supporting cloud integrations and evolving enterprise service delivery modelsAdminister and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), including domain controllers, file servers, print servers, and application serversManage Active Directory (AD), including user/group management, OU structure, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and replicationOperate and monitor physical and virtual infrastructure, including Hyper-V and VMware platformsSupport backup and restore processes in line with Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs)Maintain documentation of server configurations, rack layouts, cabling, power requirements, and capacity planningContinuously monitor Windows servers, desktops, and virtualization platforms for availability, health, and performanceTrack and report on capacity utilization, resource consumption, and licensing complianceMaintain operational records such as maintenance logs, backup validation history, and asset inventoriesSupport and improve Configuration Management (CM) practices in alignment with Army and industry standardsMaintain and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to track Windows servers, desktops, and dependenciesSubmit all changes via the approved change management system in accordance with the Change Control Review (CCR) processEvaluate proposed changes for technical and cybersecurity risk, ensuring compliance with secure configuration baselinesPerform and document system patching, OS updates, and application upgrades in accordance with OIM policyRequirementsBachelor's degree in computer science or related fieldGreat communication and organizational skillsEight (8) years of prior experience in a similar roleDoD 8570 Level II/III certification desiredActive Security Clearance RequiredIPTA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
