Head of Construction Accounting

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF...You've spent years inside construction finance — as a CFO, Controller, Consultant, or Implementation Specialist and you know exactly what's broken. The manual processes that eat up hours. The software that wasn't built for how Construction Contractors actually work. The industry flying blind on cash flow, job costs, and margins while the rest of the business world moved on without them. You've had opinions about how to fix it. You've wanted a platform to say so. And you've been waiting for the right opportunity to stop working inside the problem and start being part of the solution. That opportunity is here.WHAT YOU'LL OWNThis is a dual role — and both sides carry equal weight. Half of your job is being the deepest construction accounting mind in the room when our product team is making decisions. The other half is taking that expertise public through digital content that educates and builds trust at scale. You can't do one without the other, and that's exactly what makes this role rare.Product & Domain Expertise•   Serve as the primary construction accounting authority for our product team — you're in the room when features get scoped, prioritized, and validated•   Translate real-world contractor pain into clear, actionable product requirements that engineers can actually build from•   Pressure-test new features and workflows against how contractors actually operate — catching what looks good on paper but breaks in the field•   Help us identify the gaps that cost contractors the most time and money, and make sure we're solving the right problems in the right order•   Lead our thinking on how AI and automation can eliminate the manual, redundant work that has held this industry back for decadesDigital Presence & Thought Leadership•   Own and grow a YouTube channel, podcast, blog, and social presence that becomes the go-to resource for construction accounting knowledge•   Create how-to guides, video walkthroughs, and educational content that contractors and finance teams actually want to watch and share•   Build a genuine following across LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms by showing up consistently with real expertise and a distinct voice•   Become a recognized digital presence in key construction markets — connecting with local contractor communities and building relationships that translate into trust at scaleYOU'RE THE RIGHT PERSON IF...•   You're a CPA with 5+ years of construction accounting and financial management experience•   You've worked across multiple companies and types — GCs, specialty trades, commercial — and have the battle scars to prove it•   WIP schedules, job costing, overbilling, underbilling, and contractor cash flow are second nature to you•   You can walk into a product meeting, spot a flawed assumption about how contractors work, and explain exactly why — with enough specificity that the team can act on it•   You nerd out on automation and genuinely believe AI is going to transform construction finance — and you want to be one of the people making that happen•   You're a natural on camera, behind a mic, and in front of a keyboard — creating content feels like an outlet, not a chore•   You can translate complex financial concepts into content that contractors actually want to watch, read, and shareABOUT CREWCOSTAlmost 40% of construction contractors fail within five years. Most of them never had the financial tools to see it coming. CrewCost exists to change that — built by former contractors who got tired of watching great builders lose because of bad software. We build modern, affordable accounting products purpose-built for contractors, combining job costing, time tracking, and automated AP into one platform. We believe every contractor — no matter their size — deserves the financial foundation to build profitably and confidently.WHAT WE OFFER•   $160,000 – $200,000 base compensation depending on experience, plus equity•   Fully remote — work from anywhere in the US•   A genuine seat at the product table — not an advisory role, not a committee, direct influence on what gets built•   Content infrastructure and marketing support to help you build a real, lasting audience•   A mission worth showing up for every day
