Software Development Manager, AWS EBS Data Plane - Durability Engine

Overview As a Software Development Manager for AWS EBS, you will lead efforts to build and operate one of the world’s largest distributed storage systems. You will help maintain a foundational service that underpins many AWS products, driving performance, reliability, and security. You’ll mentor engineers, guide cross-team collaboration, and shape development practices as you scale with the organization. This role offers hands-on leadership in a high-impact, cloud-scale environment with strong growth opportunities. You will help drive impactful, customer-focused storage solutions that power AWS workloads. ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineers across EBS and other AWS teams to solve large-scale storage problemsLead and mentor engineers, provide thorough code reviews, and support career growthPartner with product and program management to define features and roadmapsOversee the full software/hardware/networks lifecycle practices including builds, testing, and live-site operationsShape engineering practices, standards, and scalable processes to ensure secure, performant systems Key requirements3+ years of engineering team management experience7+ years of engineering experienceKnowledge of the software/hardware/networks lifecycle and related practices (coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, livesite operations)Experience partnering with product and program management teams5+ years of non-internship professional experience writing C/C++ codeExperience using coding assistant LLMs such as Claude Code or Copilot to accelerate the development lifecyclestrong communicationmentoring and coachingcross-team collaborationC/C++ programmingsystems development lifecycle, testing, certification, livesite operationscode reviews and source control
