Long Term Project For A Ruby On Rails ConsultantLong term project for a Ruby on Rails consultant must be able to commute to Queens, NY - on-site for first six months no sponsorship provided for this position.Responsibilities:Analyze programs and reports on the mainframe for migration to distributed systems.Assist with the migration and optimization of legacy applications and the data to the distributed systems platform.Re-create and validate the legacy reports to a distributed systems platform using a combination of programming and/or reporting tools.Perform troubleshooting, system testing validation and data analysis.Learn and become a subject matter expert in third-party vendor applications.Migrating and modernizing workloads from mainframe environments to Windows/Linux systems or the cloud.Ensure source code and application changes are promoted into production environment by following designated change management processes and controls.Ensure application documents comply with IT policies, procedures, authorization and controls prior to promotion to any production environment.Requirements:7 years of programming and/or report development work experience is required.Ability to make sound judgment and recommendation.Experience with legacy applications such as IBM mainframes and midrange a plusKnowledge of Ruby/Rails, SQL, CSS, JavaScript, React and/or REST required.Knowledge of application data migration, synchronization and offloading strategies a plusFull stack development experienceExperience with relational databases such as DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQLExperience with the integration and transformation of various data typesFamiliarity with data normalization methodologiesProficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Project and AccessExperience using change management toolsUnderstanding of methodologies to import and export data including familiarity with csv, text and delimited file formatsExperience with responding to reported incidents/alertsExceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilitiesStrong written/oral communication and presentation/interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentExcellent customer service focusFamiliarity with all aspects of the SDLC, from requirements definition through production support.
