Supplier Relationship Manager

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Supplier Relationship Manager to lead our supplier engagement and optimize our performance within our Freshwater Segment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with producers and suppliers. The Relationship Manager is responsible to positively contribute to the fill rate and quality goals for the segment. The relationship Manager must provide a competent, professional and personable representation of the company. Success in this role hinges on some knowledge of freshwater aquatics, including ecosystems, species care, and water-quality management. Responsibilities Develop and maintain vendor relationships which are mutually beneficial, professional, and represent Apet as expected in every communication and transaction. Understand production abilities of all producers in the segment and how their production can best integrate with the needs of the company. Recognize future supply limitations that could impact the operations of the company and keep their management apprised of such. Maintain facility and equipment of the company to managements satisfaction. Coordinate and consolidate shipments for the most effective and efficient distribution. Establish relationships with new producers that add value to the company. Be aware and alert to activity of individuals and organizations whose agenda is counter to that of the pet industry and be responsible to protect Apet's reputation and how it is perceived in the pet industry. Be aware of any state regulations that have restricted or banned sales or possessions of certain species. Fully support and facilitate Apet's mission of Perfect Product and Perfect Service to all we do business with and our goal to supply the quantity and consistent quality of companion animals that are needed to facilitate our customers success. Follow policies and procedures of Apet as set forth in the Policy Manual. Travel overseas at least once per year, travel to Florida minimum once per year. Other duties may be assigned. Experience At least 20% of knowledge in Freshwater Aquatics Strong background in quality control/assurance practices including root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies (non-negotiable) Demonstrated ability to lead audits, manage multiple stakeholders, analyze data for continuous improvement initiatives, and implement effective corrective actions. Proven experience managing supplier, vendor, or producer relationships, preferably within the aquatics, pet, or animal-care industry. Experience evaluating producer production capabilities and integrating output with organizational needs. Background in identifying and forecasting supply limitations and communicating risks to management.
