Beamline Operator

Overview Hours: 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday Location: Lockport, IL. area Below is a general summary of the responsibilities and requirements found in this role. Job Summary & Core Responsibilities The primary objective of a Beamline Operator is to transform raw structural steel beams into finished components according to precise engineering specifications. Machine Operation: You will load, set up, and operate CNC beam drill lines (such as the Advantage or Sub-X series). This includes monitoring drilling, milling, tapping, countersinking, and "scribing" (layout marking) operations. Material Handling: Utilizing overhead cranes, forklifts, or integrated material handling systems to move heavy structural beams into the machine’s path and offload them once processed. Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting complex structural fabrication drawings to ensure parts are processed with high accuracy. Quality Control: Verifying dimensions and hole placements against project prints to ensure the steel meets industry standards (e.g., AISC/AWS). Maintenance: Performing routine daily maintenance on the machinery—such as checking fluid levels, clearing chips/debris, and monitoring drill bit wear—to ensure consistent performance. Typical Qualifications Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with CNC-driven industrial machinery. Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and translate technical drawings into machine commands. Safety Awareness: A rigorous commitment to shop floor safety, especially when working with heavy steel and automated equipment. Mechanical Aptitude: A proactive approach to troubleshooting minor mechanical or software issues during the production run. Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
