THE INTENT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO IDENTIFY A POOL OF ADJUNCT FACULTY WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO DELIVER GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES IN THE DIVISION OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP, POLICY AND FOUNDATIONS.Responsibilities of UMKC Part-time Faculty Members1.Create and maintain civil and engaging learning environments2. Deliver curriculum through high quality course instruction3. Assess student learning of course objectivesUse a variety of evaluation methodsUse the early alert system to identify students at risk of failing, when applicable (UMKC Connect)Provide students with prompt, objective, fair feedback on their workAssign grades and maintain student records in accordance with university policy4. Adhere to and model university standards of professionalism5. Be accessible to students for conferences / consultations6. Engage in critical self-reflection and professional developmentPart Time; not eligible for benefits. Hours vary according to opportunity. Contracts are generally issued on a semester-by-semester basis.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsAppropriate degree for the level of class being taughtExperience/training relevant to the content area being taughtDemonstrated understanding of and commitment to urban issuesLicensure or certification, if applicablePreferred QualificationsPrevious experience teaching at the university levelFamiliarity with various online management systems (e.g., Canvas)Anticipated Hiring RangeA flat adjunct salary is determined based on level of education and number of courses being taught.Application MaterialsA complete application includes (a) letter of application detailing desire and qualifications to teach in one or more of the areas listed above, (b) curriculum vita, (c) minimum of one current letter of recommendation (must be on letterhead and signed), and (d) verification of licensure or certification, if appropriate.
