Job Brief: Sherman Buildings, a family-owned construction company operating since 1976, is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our team in Mora, Minnesota. This full-time position is central to the continued modernization of our internal operations, with a primary focus on developing and maintaining software tools that support our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, inventory tracking, and other internal business processes.The Software Developer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining custom internal programs that streamline operations across Sherman Buildings' departments. This role requires a self-directed individual with strong coding proficiency and a practical approach to problem-solving in a business environment.Job Location: On site at our Mora, MN officeResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain internal software applications in support of Sherman ERP operationsBuild and manage inventory tracking tools and related automation workflowsIdentify operational inefficiencies and develop programmatic solutions in coordination with department leadsLeverage leading AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate coding workflows and improve output qualityProvide ongoing maintenance, debugging, and version control for all internal programsDocument code, processes, and system architecture for internal useCollaborate with staff across departments to assess technical needs and deliver effective solutionsAssist with additional IT-related projects as assignedSkills RequiredRequired QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, SQLExperience developing internal business applications or toolsStrong working knowledge of database design and management (SQL)Comfort using AI coding assistants as a productivity tool, with the ability to critically evaluate, test, and refine AI-generated codeAbility to work independently and manage multiple development projects simultaneouslyStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with ERP systems or inventory management platformsFamiliarity with web-based application development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS)Experience in a construction, manufacturing, or trade-industry environmentAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceSalary range: $115,000 – $160,000 commensurate with experience
