Feed Mill Manager

Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionThe Feed Mill Manager oversees producing the correct commodities and the right amounts of the commodities for Beef Northwest's feeding needs and outside sales. This means ensuring that all maintenance on the mill equipment is completed and documented. This also includes training and developing staff's knowledge so the mill can operate both safely and efficiently. Ensure all commodities handled in the mill meet quality and safety specifications. The Feed Mill Manager will ensure that all possible problems are identified and addressed in a timely fashion. The Feed Mill Manager works closely with the Assistant Manager and Feeding Supervisor.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssentialEnsure that all commodities are hauled to the mill for the next day's feeding:Ensure routine and preventative maintenance is scheduled and performedEnsure critical parts are identified and on handOperate processing equipment following set procedures to achieve quality control specifications for different commoditiesEnsure daily housekeeping duties are completedMaintain a schedule for all mill employeesSupervise mill employees and set tasks & priorities for the day with follow-upAssist in Budget DevelopmentEnsure department is operating efficiently and within BudgetEnsure employees are working safely following all safety protocolsHandle all commodities following proper sanitary guidelines to maintain product integrity and qualityMeasuring commodities to ensure accurate inventory levels daily, weekly and monthlyCommunicate with Yard Manager and other Supervisors on production challenges or quality issuesConsistent and accurate daily commodity samplesEnsure inventory is on hand and accounted for properlyAssist in high moisture corn pit fill up each fallMarginalSome operation of the loader as neededOther tasks or duties as requiredRequirementsQualificationsStrong oral communication skillsBilingual preferredLeadership skills to work through crew to achieve desired resultsHigh level of organization and prioritization skillStrong systematic problem-solving skillsExcellent safety skills and awareness neededExcellent computer and keyboarding skillsMust be a team playerMaintenance knowledge to help crew problem solve and assist if neededEquipment operating experience helpful (i.e. Skid Steer, Loader, Commodity Truck etc.)Basic electrical, pneumatic, mechanical knowledgeBe able to read gauges, and take measurementsBasic reading, writing and math skillsBasic excel skills a plusMachines OperatedComputerSkid SteerLoaderMill EquipmentCommodity TruckProduction StandardsAccurate measurements of commoditiesHousekeeping standards kept up dailyAccurate & timely maintenance on all equipmentAccurate adjustment of the rollsAccurate & timely sampling of the commodities
