Job Title: Instrumentation/Electrical Construction Field Superintendent (Instrumentation Supervisor)Job DescriptionThe Instrumentation/Electrical Construction Field Superintendent leads large-scale instrumentation and electrical construction projects in the field, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This role acts as the primary on-site leader, directing construction execution teams, coordinating subcontractors, and serving as the main point of contact for the client while maintaining strict adherence to quality and industrial safety standards.ResponsibilitiesSupervise the field construction team and oversee daily on-site instrumentation and electrical construction activities.Enforce compliance with all safety regulations, industrial safety standards, and company policies on the job site.Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the client regarding field construction activities and project status.Manage construction crews and coordinate subcontractors to maintain productivity, workflow, and resource utilization.Monitor project progress using scheduling tools, including Primavera P6, to track milestones and deliverables.Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve potential construction issues that could impact safety, schedule, or budget.Support the project controls team in managing change orders, requests for information (RFIs), schedule extensions, and variances.Utilize and interpret project schedules to prioritize tasks, sequence work, and manage overall project timelines.Ensure all work is completed on time, within budget constraints, and in accordance with contractual requirements.Maintain high-quality standards and verify that all workmanship meets project specifications and quality expectations.Oversee and manage field documentation, including Safe Work Permits (SWP) and records required by the quality assurance plan.Ensure strict adherence to the quality assurance plan and support quality inspections and corrective actions as needed.Assist in resolving construction-related disputes and address client concerns in a timely and professional manner.Support the preparation of bid documents and assist in developing and vetting job packages for upcoming work.Collaborate with project management and construction management teams to align field execution with overall project objectives.Essential SkillsProven experience in instrumentation and electrical construction supervision or construction management in the field.Strong contractor management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple crews and subcontractors effectively.Demonstrated knowledge of industrial safety compliance and the ability to enforce safety regulations and Safe Work Permits (SWP).Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling to monitor project progress and manage timelines.Solid understanding of project management principles as they apply to construction execution, change management, and scheduling.Experience in construction and construction management for large projects, particularly in instrumentation and electrical scopes.Ability to support and manage change orders, RFIs, schedule extensions, and variances in collaboration with project controls.Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct field teams, make decisions, and drive accountability.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, crews, subcontractors, and project teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook for reporting, documentation, communication, and schedule coordination.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.Experience working with large, complex construction projects involving instrumentation and electrical systems.Ability to read, interpret, and apply project specifications, drawings, and quality assurance plans.Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to address field issues and client concerns effectively.Attention to detail in documentation, permitting, and adherence to quality and safety processes.Capability to contribute to bid document preparation and to develop and review job packages.Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily field-based at active construction sites, overseeing large instrumentation and electrical construction projects. The superintendent works closely with construction crews, subcontractors, and project management teams in a dynamic, schedule-driven environment. The work involves regular use of scheduling and office software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook, alongside on-site documentation and permitting tools. The position requires consistent presence in the field to monitor work, enforce safety practices, and verify quality, often in industrial settings where adherence to Safe Work Permits (SWP) and industrial safety standards is essential.
