This role will focus heavily on application support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancements across existing and legacy applications.The ideal candidate will be an independent problem solver who can investigate issues, understand unfamiliar code, troubleshoot application/database problems, and work effectively with limited documentation.This is a support-heavy role, with an approximate 80% application support / 20% development split.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide production support for business-critical applications.Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across legacy and existing systems.Analyze application code, business logic, and database interactions to identify root causes.Develop application fixes, enhancements, and improvements resulting from support activities.Work closely with business users to understand reported issues and determine appropriate solutions.Investigate whether issues originate from application logic, database behavior, infrastructure, or other systems.Support and maintain legacy applications with limited documentation.Independently research and understand unfamiliar code and application functionality.Collaborate with technical teams and escalate issues when appropriate.Participate in application vulnerability remediation and secure coding activities.Support applications throughout their production lifecycle.Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation approximately once every four weeks, Monday-to-Monday, including nights and weekends.Required Technical Skills3+ years of hands-on Java development experienceStrong experience with Java 8, preferably in a production environmentFull-stack Java development experienceHands-on experience with Spring MVCStrong SQL skillsHands-on Oracle database experienceProduction/application support experienceExperience troubleshooting legacy applicationsAbility to independently analyze code and identify root causesExperience working with application/database interactionsAzure DevOpsGitHubPreferred / Nice-to-Have SkillsC#ASP.NETDB2Application security and vulnerability remediationGitHub CopilotCandidate ProfileThe Ideal CandidateHas approximately 3 7 years of Java experienceHas recent, hands-on Java 8 production experienceIs comfortable supporting and troubleshooting legacy applicationsCan work independently with limited documentation and guidancePossesses strong analytical and problem-solving skillsCan understand business requirements and trace issues through application codeIs comfortable working in a less-structured environmentCan work across both backend and frontend/application logicHas strong production support and incident troubleshooting experienceIs comfortable communicating directly with business usersIs willing to participate in the required on-call rotationWork EnvironmentThe position supports applications used within a manufacturing/factory environment and involves working with a combination of modernized and legacy systems.The team operates in a less formal, waterfall-oriented environment rather than a traditional Agile/Scrum model.
