BOOK KEEPER/CONTROLLER
Job Overview

Duties
Oversee all aspects of general ledger accounting, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet management
Strong understanding of medical insurance billing through AdvancedMD
Strong understanding of grant billing
Payroll
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial report writing and analysis for internal stakeholders and external regulators
Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements
Performing other clerical duties as assigned
Depositing checks in the bank
Conduct cost accounting analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support organizational growth and operational efficiency
Supervise the management of accounting systems and software to optimize data accuracy, streamline workflows, and facilitate Excel data analysis
Perform detailed account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and account reconciliation tasks to uphold financial integrity
Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
Oversee treasury management activities including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and regulatory reporting
Lead the finance team in technical accounting issues such as non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting standards as applicable
Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory compliance accounting standards across all financial operations
Requirements
Proven experience managing accounting teams within complex organizations; prior leadership roles preferred
Extensive knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices
Strong proficiency with financial software systems (QuickBooks desktop), spreadsheets (Excel data analysis), and accounting systems integration
Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
Solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles, account reconciliation techniques, and general ledger management
Experience with regulatory compliance accounting including regulatory reporting requirements for public or nonprofit entities
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports for decision-making purposes
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification highly desirable
