Python Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)

🎯 THE OPPORTUNITY: Build the Python backend and data foundations for a wargaming and decision-support platform. Your work will connect simulation runtimes, AI workflows and analytical interfaces, turning complex runs into reproducible results that users can inspect and trust. The core challenge is production software engineering: well-designed APIs, reliable data movement, orchestration and resilient distributed services.⚙️ WHAT YOU WILL OWN
  • Design backend services and APIs that schedule simulation runs, collect outputs and deliver results to frontend and analysis tools.
  • Build ingestion and normalization pipelines, with clear data models and interfaces for simulation inputs, outputs and provenance.
  • Develop distributed execution across local workstations, on-premises environments and cloud infrastructure while preserving reproducibility.
  • Implement services for scenario generation, Monte Carlo execution and sensitivity analysis alongside domain specialists.
  • Connect Python tooling to simulation runtimes and agentic AI or ML pipelines through scalable, containerized interfaces.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into maintainable designs, owning testing, code review, CI and release quality. Architectural and mentoring responsibilities grow with level.👤 WHAT THE TEAM IS LOOKING FOR
  • Professional production Python experience, with direct ownership of backend services, APIs or data systems.
  • Strong API design and service-boundary judgment, with experience using REST, GraphQL or gRPC and Docker-based development.
  • The ability to reason about distributed execution, data orchestration, reliability, scaling and failure recovery.
  • A track record of collaborative delivery, clear stakeholder communication and disciplined software development, alongside familiarity with ML tools.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.🔎 USEFUL EXPERIENCE
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, and reliable agentic AI integrations.
  • Code analysis, static analysis or C++ interoperability.
  • Simulation, AFSIM or defense-domain experience is helpful, but not required for the core backend and data systems remit. Hybrid/ Remote, with offices in Boston and SF
