Job TypeInternshipDescriptionTherapy Austin is a strong and inclusive community seeking a compassionate, self-motivated and collaborative Counseling Graduate Intern to provide our clients with high-quality clinical care.Graduate Student Interns carry assigned caseloads of 10-14 clients per week. They are self-motivated and collaborative counseling practitioners with a strong desire to develop clinical skills. Counseling Interns are responsible for providing phone intake calls, conducting mental health evaluations, and working with their clinical supervisor to develop treatment plans in a relational agency-based setting. This is an unpaid, graduate-level internship position.With 4 locations across Austin, Therapy Austin offers therapy-ready adult clients alongside a fantastic group of practitioners in a private-pay setting. We invest heavily in our counselors' clinical and professional growth by providing high-quality training and individualized mentoring.Perks of Working at Therapy AustinHeart-centered, relational culture with a cool Austin vibeDiverse and supportive community with loads of encouragement and compassionIncomparable clinical training program with free and exclusive CEU opportunitiesComprehensive clinical support including consultation groupsStylish and comfortable offices with locations all over AustinProven marketing with steady client referrals to keep your caseload fullUser-friendly practice management tools and HIPAA compliant teletherapy platformAdministrative support staff who are here to help youDuties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all Policies and Procedures as outlined in Agency documents, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Intern Policy and Procedure Manual, Intern-Site Agreement, and Client ContractAttend scheduled weekly meetings and seminars.Respond to communications from leadership staff in a timely mannerAccept new client requests for services until your agreed upon Caseload Allotment is achievedConduct intake calls with scheduled clients and refer out as appropriate under agency guidelinesConduct a thorough bio-psycho-social assessment with each new client during the initial appointment to ensure adequate level-of-care and fit for services.Collaborate with clinical supervisor to develop an agreed-upon treatment plan with each client and encourage clients to take an active part in their own treatmentProvide ongoing short-term mental health treatmentKeep accurate and detailed written treatment and financial transaction records for each clientMaintain data in agency systems in a timely mannerUse supervision and consultation to provide referrals to clients as neededKeep clinical supervisor apprised of challenging/at-risk clients and clinical issues in a timely mannerMaintain confidentiality of client recordsMaintain awareness of and compliance with state and federal laws, including HIPAA compliance, and related Agency policy and proceduresSkillsEnergetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideasInsightful with the ability to use critical thinking to solve problemsStrong communicator, both interpersonally and via presentationsHighly ethical and committed to clinical best practicesTeam and community orientedProficient with technologyJob RequirementsAttend and successfully complete all scheduled New Intern training sessionsAttend all scheduled consultation and seminar meetingsParticipate in required informal or formal coaching sessions, meetings, or trainingMinimum time commitment: 120 direct client hours and 180 indirect hours equal to 300 hours per semesterQualificationsIn a Master's degree program and approved by program for internshipDue to ethical constraints we're unable to hire anyone who's been a client of Therapy Austin in the past.Mindfully Behavioral Health is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
