Quality Technician - 4 Day Work Week Georgia-Pacific is looking for safety-oriented individuals to join our team as a Quality Technician in Jonestown, PA!Salary: $24.50 per hour. You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the plant. This role is eligible for our Performance Pay program that could offer up to a 6% quarterly bonus.Shift: Monday through Thursday: 6:45am-7pm. Role will resume DuPont schedule tentatively in December. Only candidates who are able to work this schedule will be considered. Jonestown operates on a point-based attendance program.Quality Technicians help maintain constant quality during production by inspecting and measuring product samples and communicating the data to the broader team. The Quality Technicians enable quick responses to correct defects and/or process issues by effective communication and working alongside the Operations team, the R&D team, and GP Leaders. They will also be an integral part in verifying processes to aid in continuous improvement. The objective is that the Customer receives only high-quality product. These are developmental positions with growth potential in the facility as well as across Georgia-Pacific.Georgia-Pacifics Mailers is a part of the Packaging and Cellulose business, the Mailers business is expanding its product lines, working with key customers to create and launch one or more new products to complement our already thriving recyclable padded mailer business.What You Will Do:Verifying that all materials are in SPEC for on all jobs based on the envelope format being produced and as instructed by the quality supervisorPerforming and maintaining department quality as required by standard operating proceduresStay up to date on procedures related to quality inspections, specification limits and sampling frequencyMonitor packaging for defects outside of established specification limits, correct and report any non-conformance issues to the lead operatorPrinting labels when needed when placing materials on holdChecking incoming raw materials prior to being ran in production as well as when concerns about run ability are raisedAssist with hand packing when Automation is downMaintaining an open dialogue with supervision and other employees to minimize delaysUpdating upcoming shift so information is passed on accuratelyMaintaining a clean working environmentMonitor all jobs for manufacturing defects and report any non-conformance issuesComply and see that facility employees comply with ALL standard operational procedures relating to qualityVerify processes by performing internal auditsPerform other duties and / or projects as assignedAct as the on shift go to person for quality related itemsParticipate in continuous improvement activitiesComplete all required training within specified time frameUse Teams and other computer based programs to communicate with other members of the quality groupWork overtime as necessary to cover absences or PTOWho You Are (Basic Qualifications):Experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, warehouse OR military environment OR completion of post high school education in manufacturing/industrialBasic computer skillsAbility to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally with team members, management, and other departmentsWhat Will Put You Ahead:1+ years experience operating production machineryExperience performing quality checks according to standard operating proceduresExperience working with Microsoft OfficeExperience working in a converting operationUnderstanding of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniquesExperience with quality management systems (QMS) and standards like ISO 9001Other Considerations/Physical Requirements:Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipmentPerform tasks such as lifting up to 45lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to/more than twelve (12) hours a day, in a loud/noisy, and industrial, high-volume environmentAt Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
