Construction Manager - Substations
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of substation construction projects across the United States. This role is critical to the successful execution of high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects supporting utilities, renewable integration, and grid modernization.The Construction Manager will oversee all site‑based activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact power projects in a growing market sector.Key ResponsibilitiesManage on‑site construction activities for new‑build and expansion substation projects (distribution, transmission, and high‑voltage)Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning works across multiple contractors and tradesOversee project schedules, field budgets, quality control, and daily construction operationsEnforce strict compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and utility safety standardsLead subcontractor coordination meetings and resolve site issues proactivelyEnsure adherence to construction drawings, technical specifications, and approved methodsSupport testing, energization, and close‑out activities in coordination with utility stakeholdersMaintain accurate progress reporting and communicate risks, delays, or changes to project leadershipRequired Qualifications7+ years of construction management or supervisory experience within substation or power infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of high‑voltage systems, substation construction sequencing, and electrical safety practicesProven experience working with utilities, EPC contractors, or heavy civil/electrical contractorsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex site logisticsExcellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skillsFamiliarity with US electrical codes, standards, and utility requirementsWillingness to travel or relocate to project sites as requiredPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fieldExperience with transmission & distribution (T&D) or renewable interconnection projectsOSHA 30 certificationProficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)Working knowledge of commissioning and energization processes
