Project Support Specialist (Part-time, Temporary)

Specialist 5The Project Support Specialist is a temporary, part-time position supporting the development, coordination, and execution of projects within Military, Veterans, and Wraparound Support at Wake Technical Community College. The primary focus of this role is supporting New Student Convocation, a collegewide welcome event that sets expectations for success and connects new students to key resources.This position provides hands-on support for planning, logistics, communication, and day-of execution. The role also assists with related projects that support student access, belonging, and early engagement., To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.Supports planning, coordination, and execution of New Student Convocation, including timelines, materials, logistics, and on-site supportAssists with outreach and communication to students, families, and campus partners related to events and initiativesCoordinates logistics such as room setup, supplies, signage, registration support, and vendor or partner needsTracks project tasks, deadlines, and deliverables to support timely executionMaintains organized documentation related to planning, outreach, and event outcomesAssists with data collection and basic reporting for assessment and improvement effortsSupports collaboration with campus departments and external partners involved in student success initiativesProvides general project and administrative support for Military, Veterans, and Wraparound Support activities as assignedRepresents the department at events with a professional, student-centered approachAbility to travel to multiple Wake Tech campuses as needed to support events and projectsParticipates in required training and professional development, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent and clear communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesComfortable working collaboratively across departmentsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to exhibit professional demeanor and attitude at all timesStrong customer service mindset with a focus on studentsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)Minimum RequirementsAssociate degreeExperience supporting projects, events, or operations2 years experience working in a customer service, administrative, or student support settingPreferencesExperience in higher education or a community college settingExperience supporting events or large-scale programsExperience with student-facing communicationFamiliarity with student support services or wraparound resources
