This position is a hands-on dispatcher/logistics roll in which the individual is responsible for overseeing and supporting the sites assigned in their territory. They provide training and support to dispatch and Shipping/Receiving team; the Freight Captain is a guide and coach to help ensure that the dispatching needs of the business are met. This individual will be working closely with the Regional Transportation Manager as well as the transportation staff, customer service, operations team, drivers, and vendors to ensure on-time deliveries and minimize fleet/carrier expenses for all locations involved. They also oversee and are responsible for overall shipping data management related to the KPIs for logistics.Job LocationThis is an onsite role in Quakertown, PA.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist with training and support for dispatchers and Shipping/Receiving AdminsProvide guidance and coaching to transportation staff at assigned facilitiesAttend weekly ship well call with leadership teamLead call in Regional Transportation Managers’ absenceAssist with EDI registrationEnsure the proper code is being used and supporting notes are entered in post textEnsure loads are getting to the correct warehouse based on items orderedOversee load planning processMaintain copacker relationships and communication regarding inventory levels and shippingManage and analyze transportation needs/expensesAssist with rate negotiationApprove higher rates when applicableEnsure adherence to policies and procedures regarding freight and shippingEnsure facilities are processing pick lists and ship tickets in an accurate and timely mannerReview Daily Bulk/Bag Report, Open Order Report, Priority Report, Freight Operations Report and Freight Optimizer daily and respond accordinglyWork closely with Customer Service and Operations to understand product availability, logistics issues and customer requirementsInvestigate/Research quality, delivery, billing, ticketing, and claims issuesSupport claims/investigation process involving damage to vehicles or cargoKeep current on Government rules and regulations, fuel surcharges and DOT safety ratingAudit and maintain company assets, lease/rental units and drivers files and recordsCarrier onboardingFollowing up with compliance issuesProcess new vendor setup packets/monitor LGNE.vendorsetups.com emailAssist with annual carrier meetingsPlan and host annual dispatch meeting with Regional Transportation ManagerWork company projects assigned by managementOther duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as neededJob RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
